Huakaʻi
Huakaʻi is a cultural immersion program crafted to explore and strengthen the cultural identity of kānaka (Native Hawaiians) residing outside of Hawaiʻi. Each cohort will participate in a carefully designed 10-day program that includes activities focused on ʻai pono (healthy eating), ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (language), moʻokūʻauhau (genealogy), land stewardship, and environmental kinship.
The objective of the Pālama Foundation's Huakaʻi Program is to empower each participant to develop a stronger cultural identity and effectively apply their learnings within their families and communities.
Participants become part of the Pālama Foundation ʻohana (family) and have the opportunity to stay engaged and connected through our private Facebook page, as well as receive ongoing invitations to both Zoom and in-person events.
Applicants for the program must be of Hawaiian descent, aged 21 or older, and currently residing outside of Hawaiʻi.
